Features and Benefits

Specialty Variable Frequency Drives for Mining Applications

One of the only 1,000 VAC drives on the market, the GP1000-E features an innovative tri-level inverter that reduces motor winding stress, minimizes electrical noise, decreases motor bearing failures, and helps prevent drive-induced problems associated with long motor cables.

Available in multiple sizes and with either air-cooled or water-cooled variants, the GP1000-E enables variable speed applications though precise regulation of power and torque.

Design Features

The GP1000’s inverter's architecture and advanced control parameters minimize the chance of installation problems. It offers three autotuning methods to optimize motor control, including new static autotuning, which does not require load decoupling or motor rotation, greatly reducing setup time. GP1000 drives combine state-of-the-art components with the innovative design. The three level inverter provides a premium, high-performance solution for challenging application requirements.

TRI-LEVEL INVERTER

  • Allows for extended motor lead lengths while reducing the likelihood of higher peak voltages that lead to insulation breakdown and motor-bearing currents
  • Quiet operation
  • Three-level control reduces noise by 5-10dB compared to two-level control
  • Reduces common mode noise by up to 50%
  • Up to 44% lower inverter losses as compared to bi-level Inverter
  • Reduced internal heating of IGBTs
  • Motor bearing life increased up to 4x

RELIABILITY AND LONG LIFE

  • Dual flux observer design enhances the drive's ability to control overload torque and motor start-up torque. Greater control of motor torque decreases mechanical and motor wear and tear, can extend mechanical and motor life, and reduces or eliminates breakdowns.
  • Utilizes film bus capacitors versus electrolytics, doubling the life expectancy of the DC Bus.
  • Film bus capacitor's dry design will not leak and cause hardware damage.
  • Film bus capacitors have an unlimited shelf life with no reforming required.

OPEN NETWORK CONNECTIVITY

  • The GP1000-E supports the industry’s preference for open network architecture and connectivity with network choices such as Ethernet/IPTM, Modbus TCP/ IP, Profibus-DP®, and DeviceNet®, and others.

FLEXIBLE SPEED RANGE AND CONTROL

  • Features several control modes for flexibility and versatility in your application. In open loop vector mode, the drive uses a dual flux observer algorithm, extending the speed range and provide maximum starting torque.
  • In closed loop vector mode, 0.01% speed regulation and 1000:1 control range can be achieved.
  • Offers multiple autotuning methods to optimize motor control, including static autotuning, which does not require load decoupling or motor rotation, greatly reducing set-up time.
